Cat’s Senior Shoot #4-Soccer

This has been a beautiful week for bright sunshine. I love rummaging through my glove compartment to find some much needed sun glasses:). Sun is not always a photographer’s best friend, though. It can be the source of washed out photos with squinty eyed subjects. That being said, Caitrin and I needed to get her soccer portraits out of the way before uniforms had to be turned in, so yesterday was the day. Cat (Caitrin’s field name) did her part by securing the school field and showing up with her uniform, letterman’s jacket, cleats and a ball. I brought all of my needed gear, except for a warm pair of gloves. I’ll make sure to put those in my camera bag for the next cold weather shoot. Here is what Cat and I came up with for some unusual still and action shots. I used the bright sun for some interesting busts and streaks. Thanks for braving the wind chill for me, Caitrin. Congratulations on a season record of 16 goals, 11 assists and the honor of All SPSL 1st team; the best way to end a great high school career!

Ram Pride

This past weekend, I had the distinct pleasure to photograph Jordan for his senior portraits. Jordan is a wonderful young man who recently earned his Eagle Scout rank in the BSA. Jordan plays the trumpet for Rogers High School, and has clear pride in his Ram roots. Jordan wanted some of his photos to be taken at the high school, and specifically at the band room entrance. I love that Jordan has specific ideas on what types of poses he wants in his senior portfolio. I hope you enjoy what Jordan and I came up with for his portrait session.

Congratulations, Jordan, on your senior year and upcoming graduation. I had a blast with you!

Rainy Day Session

Today looked like a gloomy, rainy, yukky day. And it was! Today was the day Caitrin and I set aside to head up to Lincoln Park in West Seattle to take advantage of some fall color. We don’t get a lot of fall color here in the Northwest, but today, we found some. Caitrin and I had to slug through the mud to get there, but we found what we were looking for; a grove of colorful trees with a bench to sit on. A wet bench. These are some of my favorite portraits of Caitrin. I hope you enjoy them.

Caitrin’s Senior Shoot #2

Today, Caitrin and I headed to the thriving metropolis of Downtown Puyallup:) Caitrin thought that an urban setting would be a  good backdrop to her choice in attire for her second senior shoot, and due to a limited time schedule (she is  busy girl) we needed to shoot somewhere close by.  If you have been following, we have decided to try something different with Caitrin; a session each month, to fully document her senior year. I have to admit, it has been  difficult to get a shoot in so often, but we are determined. I hope you enjoy a few of my selected examples of this beautiful young lady. She is a treasure!

Kelli-A Day in the Park

My latest senior portrait shoot was with this wonderful young woman, Kelli. Kelli and I met at DeCousey Park in Puyallup to document her senior year at Puyallup High School. Kelli is an accomplished musician, playing flute, trumpet and sax. She has plans to attend WSU and study veterinary medicine. Kelli is quite an amazing girl with true beauty radiating around her. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with her. Please enjoy a few of Kelli’s photos that we captured last weekend. Congratulations, Kelli, on your senior year and upcoming graduation. We wish the very best for you in your future endeavors.

Rockin’ the “Dock”!!

Last night’s gig was awesome at Rock the Dock (http://www.rockthedockpub.com/) in Tacoma, WA on Dock street! Once again Blurred Vision (http://www.blurredvisionrocks.com/about_us.html)  did not disappoint. This is a band with true talent from their bangin’ vocals to their rockin’ instruments. I always love seeing my buddies from Rogers High class of 1984, Brent Ferguson (lead vocal/harmonica) and Scott Brown (wailing electric guitar). Last night I had the chance to meet the rest of the band: Barbara (vocals), Kevin ( electric guitar/vocals), Tim (bass/vocals), Don (drums/vocals) and Mark (keyboard/vocals). Check them out on Facebook (https:/www.facebook.com/pages/Blurred-Vision-Rocks/108613333472). Please enjoy some of the pictures from last night event. And watch for Blurred Vision’s next gig details.

Love the Longboard

Last week, I had the great pleasure to photograph Jonny for his senior portraits. I had never met Jonny before that afternoon, but I could tell, the minute I saw him, that he was a guy with charisma. He mentioned that he loved to longboard, so, of course, I had to ask if he had is longboard with him. He said it was in the car. “Wanna get it?” I asked him.  I think I surprised him…pleasantly. The look of joy on his face when he came riding down the path on his board was priceless! I love shooting seniors, especially when they are engaged in something they love. We got a few action shots, just for fun, to round out his session. It was a great shoot!

Jonny and Kate, I had a great time with both of you! Thanks for the entertainment:) And I hope you enjoyed your weekend at the Dave Matthews concert!!

Bend, Oregon Photo Trek

Good morning friends.

I hope that y’all (like what I did there?) had a good week. It was a busy week for me, but am managing.

So last month, before my trip to Mt. Rainier, the family and I took a little road trip to Bend, Oregon for a soccer tournament  of all things. I don’t think Bend is known for soccer tournaments, but here we were in the middle of Oregon at one. Anyway, with the close proximity to a couple of the mountains, Lynette and I decided to get up real early one morning and take a hike into them for a few early morning shots. We found ourselves marching around Sparks Lake in the dark to a spot with a view of the south sister (of the 3 Sisters) and Brokentop. After the sun rose and we got our shots, we then went to Todd Lake and marched around that to get a few shots of that lake and Mt. Bachelor. And finally, we ended up on a short hike around Tumalo Falls.

In this gallery, I start with a couple photographs I took on the trip down. The first two are of Mt. Hood, the other a shot of the Sisters from outside a farm in Redmond. The gallery also contains a couple of “portraits” I tool of a couple of fishermen around Todd Lake and a few shots around Tumalo Falls and Tumalo Creek.

Enjoy the photographs.

Blessings,

Chris.

I had the opportunity to go out and shoot a scrimmage of the Central Washington University football team on Saturday. I didn’t take a lot of photographs, but had a blast of fun in just a few minutes I was there.

Posted below are a few of my fav’s (click on the thumbnail to enlarge).

Enjoy and blessings,
