Ryan – A Soccer Stud!!

Had a short opportunity to photograph one of the rising stars in the Puget Sound youth soccer circles. His name is Ryan. He is 8 years old and already is quite the football stud. He dominates midfield and often leads his team to victory.

Thank you to his parents, Steve and Lauri, for introducing us to this fine young man. I look forward to watching him grow and mature into one of the most dominant players we’ve ever seen.

Blessings,

Chris.

2016 Half Marathon

Hi Friends,

We happened to swing by the 2016 Fall City Half Marathon last month on a quick trip to Snoqualmie. Not to belabor a point, but the weather was horrible and we didn’t stick around. I happened to capture a few images from the start of the race and the end. Then we went home.

Enjoy.

2016 JBLM Air Expo

Hi Friends.

I love airplanes! I love airshows! I could spent all day watching airplanes roll in and out of an airport, not to mention anything about aerobatics and demonstration flights.

In late August, Lynette and I managed to make our way to Joint Base Lewis-McChord for the 2016 JBLM Air Expo, the first time it had been put on in a number of years. I think the last time we went out kids were very little-old enough to remember but too young to drive (and if you know my kids you know that they are grown now). There were a number of acts scheduled to appear, including a number of WWII aircraft and a demonstration by the U.S. Army Golden Knight Paratrooper Team and the USAF Thunderbirds. The car was gassed up, the batteries were charged, the weather was supposed to be perfect and everything was a “go” as far as I was concerned.

Then Saturday rolled in along with the weather. While it wasn’t raining, thank God, the wind was horrific. And if you know anything about aviation, wind and airshows are not a good combination. So a lot of the acts were canceled for the day. However, there were still a decent number of demonstrations and I managed to get off a few good shots.

So what we have here are a few shots of a North American B-25 Mitchell, a Lockheed P-38 Lightning, a Lockheed T-33, a Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet, a Boeing C17, and of course the USAF Thunderbirds that are General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcons. I also have a couple shots of some of the static displays, and couple of shots from around the grounds, a shot of ‘yours truly’ (complements of Lynette), and a few of all the other cameras shooting various flights.

I hope you enjoy.

Blessings,

Chris.

Fall Family Photos

Happy fall, everyone! We are well into our pre-Christmas prep; shopping, baking (my favorite) and photo sessions for the family Christmas cards.

Last Saturday, we had a beautiful break in our typical fall weather, allowing me to meet up with the Vitt family, at Wright Park, for their extended family photo session. Tom and Laurie have a beautiful and fun family. Previously, I had the pleasure of photographing their daughter, Kelli, for her senior session 2 years ago (see Oct 2014 post). I enjoyed Kelli so much, and was excited to have the opportunity to meet and shoot her family, as well. Tom and Laurie are great! Their grown children, Kelli, Dave and Dan, joined in and were able the get their photo for this year’s family Christmas card . Tom’s brother, Mike was in town and able to join in the group. Laurie had her 2 sisters, Julie and Brenda and her father, Mike, as well. It was a big fun happy group! I had a great time and enjoyed meeting you all!!

I hope you enjoy this sneak peek of your session.

Blessings,

~Lynette

A Beautiful Day with Kaitlin

It’s almost graduation time! Parties are being planned, trips booked and our newest graduates are getting ready to enjoy their last “real” summer vacation:)

Last weekend, I had the honor of photographing this beautiful young lady. Meet Kaitlin; soon to be a Fife High School graduate, herself. Kaitlin and I met up at one of my favorite locations, the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge. There are so many photo opportunities here, and we took advantage of many of them. We even ran into some the local wildlife…wild rabbits! So cute! Kaitlin tried hard to quietly walk up to one for a quick pic, but that bunny had different ideas, like getting the heck out of there! Haha, it did make for some good laughs, though.

Kaitlin, I wish you the very best in your life’s journey. I am confident you will find a career path that is perfect for you:) Thank you for your joyful and fun filled spirit. I enjoyed you immensely! Congratulations on being a 2016 Trojans grad!

Blessings,

~Lynette

An Afternoon With Evan

What a terrific week we have had here in the Pac NW! I was blessed to take advantage of one of these beautiful afternoons with Evan, a Puyallup High School senior, whose parents I have know for over 20 years. Thanks, Dave and Shelley, for seeking me out and giving me the opportunity and privilege of photographing your youngest son!

Evan and I met up at one of my favorite spots to shoot a senior session, the downtown Tacoma/waterfront area. He was a great sport! We spent about 2 hours finding the best urban locations and taking advantage of some great lighting opportunities. It was great catching up with Dave and Shelley, too!

Thanks, Evan, for spending your afternoon with me. I thoroughly enjoyed you and our time together. I wish you the best in all of your future endeavors.

Bryan the Aviator

Happy beautiful Saturday morning, everyone!

On Valentine’s Day I was blessed to shoot my first Senior portrait session of 2016 with a terrific young man who has a passion for flight. Meet Bryan, an upcoming graduate from Tahoma High School in Maple Valley. Bryan and I met up at the Pierce County airport in Puyallup, where he and a group of high school students have been building an aircraft. Bryan told me he would be taking his flight test in this airplane next month. Very exciting! It was a dark, wet day, but we managed to dodge most of the rain and come out with some great images. Thank you to Bryan and his mom for making themselves available on Valentines Day. Also, thank you to my hubby for waiting a couple of extra hours for our celebration:)

Congratulations, Bryan! You’re gonna make a terrific pilot!

Iceland, Day 7

Day 7. Last full day here. Dang.

Well, such as it is, the weather this morning is absolutely horrible. So our morning shoot was canceled. But once the weather cleared up, we took off for Thingvellir National Park. We spent the entire afternoon here, so all the shots this day were in and around the park, including the Hellisheidi Thermal Area and its geothermal plants.

So, this will be my last post from within Iceland. This country is so beautiful and diverse that one could literally spend and entire year here and not see everything. We spend a week in the South, and seemed to hardly explore it. We managed to get some magnificent photographs, only a smidgen of which are in these 7 posts. Over the next few weeks, I’ll put together a compilation of all of them and post for your viewing pleasure.

Thanks for following and blessings to you.

Chris.

Best of 2014 (non-portrait)

Hi Friends,

Every year about this time, I put together an album of my best non-commercial (not paid) work. The hard part is I have way too many photographs to choose from, but somehow I always find a way to pare down the hundreds of photographs that are worthy of the title “Best of…”.

Anyway, here is my 2014 offering. And while I say there are usually non-portrait work I have a few of my family portraits sprinkled in (and a couple of self-shots too).

Enjoy and Merry Christmas.

Chris.
