Shot of the Day 8/22/2013

Good evening, Friends!

Hope you are all having a fantastic week.

So for my shot of the day, I though that I would post these two. Recently, I purchased a couple of macro extension tubes (and blogged about them at this post), and got these couple of shots of a bee in my backyard. I am not going to go into specifics about how I used the tubes (see the post here), but I will mention that I used my D800 on my standard Nikkor 24-120mm f4 lens and tweaked the contrast, color and crop in Lightroom.

And yes, I was super close to the bee. Given that I freak out around bees, wasps, hornets, etc. that was a major feat for me. “Mind over matter,” as they say. Or perhaps “get the shot at any cost.” Nevertheless, the first shot will be hanging on my wall soon I like it so much.

And have you ever had a bee hold still for you while you take a picture of it? No? Either could I. Haha.  🙂

Blessings,

Chris.
