Monday Morning Blues on Tuesday

Hi Friends.

Well it is Tuesday today. Tuesday after a holiday weekend. Back to life, back to real life. Blah, blah, blah.

For me today is blah. I have a severe case of the Monday blues. It’s hard to keep focused and motivated. But I persevere and am trying to push through it. I keep thinking about what a great weekend this was…I assisted one of my diving buddy instructors with his open water class (see pic below), got to spend some time with my daughter and her boyfriend, and was able to spend some time flying the drone around and getting some cool pics (will share those later).

Below is a picture of the open water class I assisted in this weekend and two students who earned their open water scuba diver certification (Cassandra and Ryan-both in center).

Thanks for being my friend and stopping by my website for a visit. And thank you for letting me vent (I’ll get through this). 🙂

Blessings,

Chris.

Interesting Perspective of Fireworks 2021

Hello Friends,

And welcome to your annual post-Indepedence Day hangover. I have to say that having the 4th on a Sunday really makes for a nice, relaxing Monday. Right?

So yesterday I took the drone out to a couple of places I hadn’t been before to check them out and get some shots. I’ll post those later, although I took mostly video. Anyway, when the sun went down and it got dark, of course all the neighborhood crazies came out and turned our quiet, little area into a war zone. Needless to say I had to drug the dog again to get him to calm down, but once he started to relax and I took the drone out again to get a few photographs of the fireworks from the air.

I have never flown the drone at night, but I am perfectly legal and licensed to do it, so I put it up but didn’t move it one-inch from straight up (I really want to be in a more open area for extended night operations). I adjusted the camera settings and started shooting.

This is a real cool perspective-much different that from the ground. But one thing that I noticed was different was with a light breeze having an open shutter on the camera creates a little background out-of-focus blur. That’s ok for these shots as the fireworks themselves turned out good, but of course I would rather have no movement on my camera when the shutter is open.

Nevertheless, I am happy with these photographs. I hope that you enjoy them too. (see more of my fireworks photos at the following link: https://chrismckennaphotography.com/2019/07/fireworks-2019/ )

Blessings,

Chris

Drone Photography Now Available for Business and Personal Use

Hello friends,

I am pleased to announce that I have passed my FAA Part 107 exam and am now a licensed commercial drone pilot with capability for drone aerial photography and/or video.

What does that mean for you? Well, drone photography offers a perspective that ground photography just cannot provide. In real estate, aerial photography is the perfect way to show off the surrounding environment of your property. Why? Because location is everything. And for many industries, location sells.  For others, the use of aerial photographs or video can be included in digital marketing (and print with photo) on your website, social media posts, and email campaigns. It really doesn’t matter what your business does or where your business is located, by adding stunning visuals it will truly complement your marketing and creative efforts on getting your message out. And finally, keep your employees and crew safe and out of danger by using my drone services for various inspections and assessment of hard-to-reach or potentially treacherous places and situations.

Our aerial photography and video services are not only just for business, but also for every individual. Consider a personal portrait session and wedding photographs that can now have a new perspective for a truly unique image. We are only limited by your imagination and what is legal and limited by FAA regulations.

Please give a call and let’s talk about how we can help you achieve your goals.

Blessings,

Chris.

Missing you George

I’ve been spending a good portion of this week restoring my tools (fixing this blog and transferring photo’s to a new computer) and I have been running across a lot of pictures of my friend George.

George was another business owner that crossed our path many years ago in a networking group. He was a DJ by trade and great friend by nature. We ended up working a lot of weddings and other events with him over the following years. George even DJ’d at my 40th birthday-an 80’s music festival in my backyard with other friends and family .

Anyway, George unexpectedly passed away a few years back. I miss talking with him on the phone as we always did. We never did connect for that beer, but I know that he’s keeping the stool warm for me in heaven.

Rest in peace, George. We miss you.

Fireworks 2019

Hi all.

I’m not going to spent a lot of time telling a story about yesterday, but I wanted to post a few pics I took of the neighborhood fireworks.

Thanks to Joe and Leslie for letting us crash your place this evening.

Blessings,

Chris.

Salish to Salish 10K

Last Saturday, I had the unique opportunity to photograph the first annual Salish to Salish 10K in Bellingham. My daughter-in-law, Molly McKenna, organized this amazing event benefiting an awesome non-profit – Skookum Kids.

“Skookum Kids is built around a single big idea: that if we take great care of people, the mission will take care of itself. So we work really hard to make this a delightful place to volunteer and be a foster parent. We believe in health for all, meaning that no person should ever have to sacrifice their own health to serve kids. That’s not to say we don’t work hard (because believe me, we do), but that healthy, happy, well-supported people get more done.”  www.skookumkids.org

With several hundred runners and walkers-time qualified, and a ton of volunteers, this 10K proved to be everything is should have been: a great race, a philanthropic opportunity, and most important, an awareness of a program for foster kids and foster parenting support.

As you will see in the photos, a gorgeous crisp fall day greeted everyone involved. So many helpful volunteers. Many smiles. If you want to help support this event next year, contact Salish Wealth Management, Bellingham-([email protected])

Please enjoy a few of the 500+ pic I captured.

Blessings,

~Lynette

New Years Eve on the Beach

Huh? New Years Eve?? It’s now September-isn’t it? I think so, so what business is it of mine to post something from New Years Eve?

Well, it’s my blog and I can do whatever I want. And since I haven’t posted these pictures anywhere yet, and since I’m bored tonight, I thought maybe I’d share a few photographs from a trip to the beach that Lynette and I took last NYE.

So enjoy. And as always, blessings to you. And if you don’t like the selfies, too bad. Hahaha. 😉

Ryan – A Soccer Stud!!

Had a short opportunity to photograph one of the rising stars in the Puget Sound youth soccer circles. His name is Ryan. He is 8 years old and already is quite the football stud. He dominates midfield and often leads his team to victory.

Thank you to his parents, Steve and Lauri, for introducing us to this fine young man. I look forward to watching him grow and mature into one of the most dominant players we’ve ever seen.

Blessings,

Chris.

Molly’s Bridal Shower

It was a gorgeous day for a tea party.

This past Saturday, my soon to be daughter-in-law, Molly, attended her bridal shower on Lake Samish in Bellingham, WA. Given to her by her besties, Kelsey and McKena, it was a gala event. Beautiful job, ladies!!

There was a spread of scented sweet peas to decorate the lovely tea cup laden table, chocolate covered strawberries, the best cucumber sandwiches I have ever had, a wonderful broccoli salad, lemon bars, champagne, and of course, tea.

Molly was lavished with beautiful and thoughtful gifts. We played fun bridal shower games (with prizes of course). We enjoyed the sun and each others company.

Congratulations, Molly! I can’t wait to see you married to my son!:) He is a lucky man.

Here are a few photos from this grand gathering. Enjoy

Mi Familia – A Golden Anniversary Celebration

Well, just a personal note.

Last week was my parents 50th anniversary. 50 years of wedded bliss. Can you believe it?? A rare event these days to say the least. Anyway, last night we celebrated with a little dinner party with immediate family. What a great night! We don’t get together often enough, so this was a wonderful time to come together and celebrate the reason that every single one of the people in these pictures is here.

So thanks, Mom & Dad, for deciding to spend the rest of your lives together and for being great role models of marriage to us all.

Love you guys!

Blessings,

Chris.
